Global home builder bolsters Pullenvale small business owner’s dream career
Date: 3 August 2021
Pullenvale local Bree Pullinger has celebrated a career highlight, partnering with one of the world’s largest home builders and masterplan developers, Sekisui House Australia.
With tasteful and on-trend interior styling and home staging as her specialty, Bree was recently engaged to style four new display homes by Shavida — Sekisui House Australia’s new, future-focused home building brand that promotes intuitive, functional and flexible living.
Adopting a contemporary styling approach, Bree was able to enhance the sense of space and maximise natural light throughout the small-lot display homes, using a range of layers, natural textures and pops of colour to bring the floorplans to life.
Bree said it was important to her to work with a company whose values aligned with her own, and when she was recommended for the opportunity by well-known interior specialists, The Retail Designers, she didn’t think twice about taking it.
“I’m passionate about the environment and supporting local businesses. Sekisui House Australia’s sustainability values resonate with me, and its ethos to create homes with harmonious energy and a good feeling when you walk in aligns with my thinking and style,” she said.
“While every display home had a pre-determined theme, I was able to execute the team’s interior styling vision in line with the architectural intent of the homes, and reflect my personal touches on each design in what was a truly collaborative design process.
“Working on the Shavida display homes has been an absolute dream and a fantastic opportunity for me. I started this business because I wanted to make a meaningful impact and add value to my projects, and Sekisui House Australia has certainly enabled me to do that.”
Sekisui House Australia Project Director Taku Hashimoto commended Bree on her achievements and her natural partnership with the organisation.
“We spent some time searching for the right styling partner to execute our vision for Shavida, and once we saw Bree’s quality of work and her understanding of our design principals, we knew it was a perfect match,” he said.
“Shavida homes are designed with purpose. We make clever use of every centimetre in our floorplans, providing a real sense of ergonomic harmony and space, ensuring life at home happens effortlessly and with vibrancy. Bree was able to take this philosophy and truly bring it to life.”
Bree staged the Shavida display homes using a number of small businesses and local suppliers, including quality fine art prints by Brisbane-based artist Donna Delaney Prints, framing by Ipswich business MM Designer Art, and sofas, bed-heads and upholstery from UD Furniture Brisbane.
With a selection of new home designs to build across single and double storeys, Shavida offers housing options to suit every stage of life, curated by in-house, international architects who have used smart, universal design principles and contemporary building methods.
Bree has continued her partnership with Sekisui House Australia styling ready-built Shavida homes that will be released in the coming months, with styling packages also in the works to offer to new home buyers.
